…my son and I met a few LEGO employees on a flight out of Bradley Airport.

They handed him two small Ninjago sets, and that simple moment sparked a passion we’ve shared ever since.

Now we’ve got a room full of LEGO, and I’ve started creating custom builds from the mountain of pieces we’ve collected over the years.

Recent Builds

LEGO makes it easy to keep building with thousands of free PDF instructions on their site. I’ve been diving into those archives and rebuilding sets using (mostly) only the pieces from my own collection.

Hoth Diorama
Death Star Trash Compactor
UCS Millenium Falcon
Emperor's Throne Room
X-Wing
Snow-Speeder
Imperial Walker (in progress)

UCS Millennium Falcon

Battle on Hoth

X-Wing Fighter

(mini)Snow-speeder

I wanted to build a version a small as possible while trying to stay as close to movie accurate as I could based on examples actual props and models from Empire Strikes Back.

Emperor’s Throne Room

Fun build with whatever color blocks I had. Test to see how lights could incorporate into some of the builds.

Death Star Trash Compactor

Imperial AT-AT Walker

UCS Millennium Falcon Build Process

Started on August 3 and finished on August 30th.

Built with, I’d say 75% blocks and pieces we already had & 25% we had to buy.

Not going to lie, the last few days were like what I assume the last 2 miles of a marathon feels like. It’s basically an out-of-body experience—except your body (my brain) keeps saying - “We did enough. We can stop. Running 24.2 miles is amazing. This has been brutal. Let’s just go sit on the couch and watch Law & Order reruns.”

Not sure I’d build something this big from “scratch” again - but was a great experience. Process was 70% planning and organizing, 20% building and 10% having to rebuild parts or entire sections 2 or 3 times.
